The first quarter of 2021 has been an interesting period for navigation and maps applications on iOS in France. Data from Sensor Tower provides a glimpse into how these apps performed in terms of downloads and weekly active users.

Google Maps maintained a strong presence with downloads starting at 60 thousand in the last week of December 2020 and reaching a peak of 90 thousand in mid-February. The weekly active users showed a high of approximately 7.2 million in late February, with a general trend of fluctuation around 6.8 million throughout the quarter.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw downloads beginning at about 50 thousand and experienced a dip to 30 thousand in early January, followed by a rise to 45 thousand in mid-February. The app's weekly active users started at around 3.6 million, with a peak at nearly 3.9 million in late February, before settling back to approximately 3.7 million towards the end of March.

For Google Earth, downloads were consistent, hovering around the 15 to 18 thousand mark each week. Weekly active users displayed a steady increase from around 98 thousand at the start of the period to a peak of over 100 thousand by March's end.

Google Street View showed a modest performance with downloads ranging between 4 and 5 thousand weekly. The app's weekly active users saw a slight increase from approximately 6.9 thousand to 7.5 thousand in late February, then returning to around 7 thousand by the close of the quarter.

Citymapper: All Live Transit differed from the others with measurable revenue, which peaked at 800 in mid-February. The app's downloads began at roughly 5 thousand and saw a decrease to 3 thousand by the end of March. Active users showed an initial increase from 150 thousand to 180 thousand in early March but experienced a decline to around 160 thousand by the quarter's conclusion.
